With Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow going head-to-head this weekend, Brittany Mahomes is not pulling any punches in defending her husband. The excitement is already reaching a fever pitch, and it seems to have reached the Cincinnati mayor's office too.
Aftab Pureval, the Cincinnati mayor, issued a proclamation from his office targeting the Kansas City Chiefs, and especially their quarterback. He called Arrowhead Stadium "Burrowhead" in reference to Joe Burrow besting Mahomes every time they have met, including last year's AFC Championship game in Kansas City.
Pureval then said that Joe Burrow owns Mahomes to an extent where he could legitimately be called the latter's father, as Burrow has a 3-0 record against Mahomes. The mayor went on to say that a paternity test might be in order to confirm it, saying in the video message:

Watch the video below:
It was a jovial mockery, yet perhaps a bit cringeworthy as well. Brittany Mahomes did not mince words, tweeting about things getting 'weird':
"Things are getting a little weird out here."Brittany Mahomes is not the only Chiefs fan weirded out by the whole affair. Eric Stonestreet, who played Cam on Modern Family, called out the mayor of Cincinnati too.
He feted the rivalry and extended his welcome to all Bengals fans coming to Kansas City. He went on to wish both teams well before taking a shot at Pureval. He called the mayor a dork and also emphasized that anyone who thought poking fun at Mahomes was a good idea was one as well. He disputed that the mayor's proclamation was in no way funny or smart.
Brittany Mahomes seconded that opinion of the mayor being called a dork in response to the actor's Twitter proclamation:
Whether it's a good idea or not, it does serve to up the ante even further ahead of the AFC Championship game.
Patrick Mahomes is coming off an MVP-caliber season and playing at home, even though he might be affected by a lingering high ankle injury. Joe Burrow, meanwhile, has the unenviable task of not only cementing his reputation but also backing up his city's mayor to ensure the diss does not fall flat come this weekend.
