James Charles Speaks Up About Tati Westbrook and Shane Dawson Drama

Over a week ago that glamour guru Tati Westbrook revealed her YouTube silence after almost two months to talk openly about her side of the story involving her 2019 drama with Charles and fellow YouTube influencers Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star. In the video, which was titled “BREAKING MY SILENCE …,” Westbrook explained viewers through the series of incidents that supposedly happened involving Dawson and Star in the process of creating and posting her May 2019 video, “Bye Sister.” In a since-deleted tweet from Dawson that was shared minutes after Westbrook’s video went live, James Charles stated, “This is a f–king lie and I’m losing my mind!!!” Star’s lawyer has yet to respond to a request for comment.

As fans can remember, Westbrook made a series of allegations against Charles in that 2019 video that became a scandal within the YouTube beauty community. He opposed her allegations in a video of his own by the titled “No More Lies.”

According to Westbrook’s newest video, she and Charles reunite in December 2019.

“Back in December 2019, after Shane and Jeffrey’s series ended, James Charles came to my LA home and we compared DMs, texts, and stories about what had happened behind the scenes,” she claimed. “We apologized to each other, forgave each other, and agreed to wait patiently until it was safe for me to share my story. Since that night, James Charles has repeatedly said that he wanted to be beside me for this video, but I felt it was important that I do it alone because he deserves my first apology.”

While Charles has stayed himself out from the matter on his own channel, he was approached by paparazzi, who asked him about “‘all this drama going on in the YouTube beauty community,” according to a video posted to YouTube.

“Who knows,” the star responded. “I’m just staying out of it, minding my own business. Just moved into a beautiful new house, I have great friends around me, waiting for my nice food on a Sunday afternoon.”

When the interviewer brought up Dawson, Charles said, “I don’t want to talk about anything in relation to him.” However, in reply to a subject of whether people should neglect Dawson’s past content, the influencer said, “I think it should always be looked at on a case by case basis and make sure that people are changing actively—that’s kind of what I’ve always believed in.”

As for Westbrook, Charles was sure about not discuss her.

“I don’t really want to address anything in regarding to the drama,” he stated. “I hope you don’t mind.”
